It's winter in La Ciénaga. The young Catholic Amalia is torn between her sexual desire and her religious devotion. When a middle-aged doctor who is passing through town harasses her, she takes on the sacred mission of saving the man's soul from sin. The Holy Girl is the second feature film by Lucrecia Martel, the Argentinian director who made a name for herself with The Swamp.
