“Post-Covid: The Major Challenge” is the theme of the 3rd Famalicão Made In Economic Forum
16-06-2021
Economist Daniel Bessa, the President of CCDR-Norte, António Cunha, and the President of the Economic and Social Council, Francisco Assis, are some of the guests that will participate in the 3rd Famalicão Made In Economic Forum, dedicated to the theme "Post-Covid: The Major Challenge", organised by the Jornal de Notícias (JN) and by the City Council of Famalicão. The initiative will take place next June 22nd, at Casa das Artes de Famalicão and will be broadcast live on the JN website.
Bearing in mind the enormous challenges that lie ahead, perhaps this is a good time to remember the teaching of Herman Melville, American poet and essayist: "Ignorance is the parent of fear". Ignorance can be fought with (good) information. That is the aim of this conference: to debate issues such as economic recovery and the best use to be made of the funds that the European "bazooka" will bring, the new forms of employment, the (fundamental) digital transition, the decisive environmental sustainability.
The challenges posed (and continue to pose) by the pandemic are immense, as are the opportunities. It is about them that we intend to talk, in a conference that counts with personalities from various sectors of activity.
The opening session is scheduled for 14h30 and will have the participation of the director of the Jornal de Notícias, Inês Cardoso, and the Mayor of Famalicão, Paulo Cunha. The following is a digital intervention by Margrethe Vestager, European Commissioner for Competition and Executive Vice President for A Europe Fit for the Digital Age. At 3 p.m., the economist Daniel Bessa will intervene. This will be followed by a panel discussion with interventions from Francisco Assis, President of the Economic and Social Council; António Cunha, President of the Regional Coordination and Development Commission of the Northern Region; Guta Moura Guedes, Director of Experimenta; Manuel Gonçalves, CEO of Têxtil Manuel Gonçalves and moderation by Paulo Ferreira, Jornal de Notícias journalist.
The closure should be in charge of the Minister of State, of Economy and Digital Transition, Pedro Siza Vieira, his presence still being subject to confirmation.
The event is free of charge, but subject to mandatory registration that can be done through the Jornal de Notícias website.
